Other uses of nonwovens include linings for mattresses, blankets and table cloths. In the medical field, these are used for wound care and feminine hygiene. They are also used in diapers, bandages and adult incontinence products.
High-absorbing nonwovens are produced using special fibres that are designed for absorbency. These are reinforced with thermal and mechanical methods. The fibres can be oriented in one direction or randomly deposited.
The cost of the fibres affects the price of the product. First-quality fibres are preferred over re-used ones. Polypropylene, polypropene, polyethylene, olefins, acetate, rayon and vinyon are all suitable.
The water absorbent nonwoven fabric is manufactured by adding a hydrophilic agent to the production process. This helps make the core of the nonwoven fabric absorb liquids quickly.
